Thinking about training in beauty, nails or make-up? Here is all you need to know!

Hello and welcome!

Lauren here, I am sat thinking about what a minefield it can be for some one looking at different training options. If you are taking the time to read this blog, I imagine it is something you are considering.

Whether you are new to the industry or looking out to carry out essential CPD (continuing professional development) there are so many options to choose from.

Once you have decided on what course you would like to complete, here are a few questions you should consider before making your choice.

Is the course accredited?

This means that it has been approved by an awarding body, or insurance company. It is important that your course is accredited to enable you to gain insurance to work in the industry, if you do not have a professional qualification that an insurance company will accept, you would not be covered if something should go wrong. Here at Lauren Jones Beauty & Training, courses are fully accredited through ABT.

Is the trainer qualified to teach?

You should enquire and check that your trainer holds a teaching qualification, this will ensure they have not only gained the skills for planning and different teaching styles, but also how they can adapt for different types of learners, ensuring that you get the most out of your training. I completed a Certificate in Education over 2 years through Huddersfield University.

How big are the class sizes?

You don't want to be lost in a sea of people on your training course, small groups will allow more one-to-one time with the trainer, allowing your skill building to happen at a good pace.

Is there any form of support after the course?

We all know that learning a new skill is not always as easy as it looks, check that you are able to check back in for extra support in the future, even if its an email, phone call or even a video call, it goes a long way to mastering your new skills!

I hope that some of the above points help to guide you in picking your training course, I am always here if you need any help, just drop me a message! Good luck in your venture and I look forward to helping you.
