How long does my hair need to be for waxing?

The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for the best possible results. If you have coarse hair it needs to be closer to 1/2-inch, especially for the first few waxing treatments.

If your hair is longer than this, I would recommend that you shave the area and book your appointment for around two to three weeks later, depending on your rate of hair growth.

03/

What should I do before my appointment?

First of all, you must make sure that the hair is long enough! Between 1/4 - 1/2 an inch is the ideal length to enable the best results.

Do not have a hot shower or bath straight before arriving for your treatment, this will soften the hairs making them more likely to break when being removed.

Do not apply any products to the skin before your treatment, such as moisturisers, as this can affect the application of the wax.

Exfoliate the day before your treatment, this will help to remove any dead skin cells and free any hairs, resulting in a smoother wax!

05/

What should I do straight after my waxing treatment?

For the next 24-48 hours you should;

-Avoid tight clothing

-Avoid UV exposure (sun/sunbeds)

-Avoid applying any perfumed products, such as moisturisers and deodorants or exfoliators

-Avoid exercise, this may cause rubbing or sweating which will irritate the waxed area

-Avoid heat treatments, such as saunas or steam rooms

-Do not touch the freshly waxed area as this will irritate the area.

It is normal to experience some slight redness and irritation after your waxing treatment, you can apply a cold compress and apply a soothing antiseptic if needed.

07/

Are there any reasons that i cannot have a waxing treatment?

Not every treatment will suit every person, how ever if any of the following apply, you may not be able to have waxing;

-Previous adverse reaction to waxing

-Known allergy to any of the product ingredients

-Skin infections present, you should seek medical advice and treat this before any treatment can be carried out due to the risk of cross infection.

-Varicose veins in the area would prevent a waxing treatment being able to occur.

-Medication that thins the skin, such as, Accutane or steroids would prevent a treatment.

-Recent use of skin peeling products would prevent a treatment.

If you are booking a waxing treatment, but are unsure if you are suitable, just ask upon booking and the best course of action will be advised.

02/

How often should I get waxed?

Regular waxing has many benefits, your best results will start to show after your first 2-3 waxing treatments. The time between your appointments will be different for each individual, depending on their natural hair growth. An average time frame would be around the 4-6 weeks mark. It is important to commit to your waxing treatments and try to refrain from using other methods in between.

04/

What should I wear for my waxing treatment?

It is a good idea to wear loose fitting clothing to your waxing appointment, this will help to stop any unnecessary rubbing which can cause irritation.

If you are booked in for any type of bikini waxing disposable pants will be provided for the treatment where necessary.

What should I do between my waxing treatments?

After 24-48 hours have passed after your waxing treatment, it is a good idea to regularly exfoliate the skin (2-3 times a week). You may use exfoliation products or glove, this will help to keep the skin soft, remove dead skin cells and allow the hairs to break through when growing, helping to prevent ingrowing hairs.

Moisturise the skin daily to help keep it soft and healthy, this will also help when teamed up with exfoliating to prevent ingrowing hairs resulting in a smoother and longer lasting wax.
